General Information:

The principal airport for flights to Rome is Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO) (PHONE: 06/65951, www.adr.it), commonly known by the name of its location, Fiumicino. It’s 30 km (19 mi) southwest of the city, on the coast. It has been enlarged and equipped with computerized baggage handling and has a direct train link with downtown Rome.

Rome’s other airport is Ciampino (CIA) (PHONE: 06/794941, www.adr.it) on Via Appia Nuova, 15 km (9 mi) south of downtown. Ciampino is an airport used by some international flights and most low-cost companies.

Transfers Between the Fiumicino Airport and Downtown:

By Private Transfer: Our private transfer from the city center to airports costs from EUR 55 and takes about 30-45 minutes. If you intend to book it please (i) flag the blank in your reservation request and (ii) provide us with your flight details. The driver will be waiting for you at the airport right after customs with a sign with your name on it.

By Taxi: A taxi ride to the center of Rome costs from EUR55, including supplementi (extra charges) for airport service and luggage, and takes about 30-45 minutes. Private limousines can be booked at booths in the Arrivals hall; they charge a little more than taxis but can carry more passengers. There is a taxi stand in front of the International Arrivals hall and a booth inside for taxi information. Use only licensed white or older yellow taxis. Avoid drivers who may approach you in the Arrivals hall; they charge exorbitant, unmetered rates.

By Car: When approaching by car, follow the signs for Rome and the GRA (the ring road that circles Rome). On the GRA take the direction Via Aurelia, turn off the GRA onto the Via Aurelia, and follow it into Rome. Take then the Lungotevere until Bridge Mazzini. Go then in Piazza della Moretta and park.

By Train: Take the 30-minute nonstop Airport-Termini express (called the Leonardo Express) that goes directly to Track 22 at Termini Station, Rome’s main train station, which is well served by taxis and is a hub of Metro and bus lines. Take then bus no. 64 or no. 40 and stop at "Corso Vittorio Emanuele/Piazza della Chiesa Nuova". Reach the apartment walking. The ride to Termini takes 30 minutes; departures are every half hour beginning at 6:37 AM from the airport, with a final departure at 11:37 PM. Trains depart Termini to the airport starting at 5:52 AM and run until 11:23 PM. Tickets cost EUR8.80.

Transfers Between the Ciampino Airport and Downtown

By Private Transfer: Our private transfer from the city center to airports costs from EUR 59 and takes about 35-45 minutes. If you intend to book it please (i) flag the blank in your reservation request and (ii) provide us with your flight details. The driver will be waiting for you at the airport right after customs with a sign with your name on it.

By Car: Drive north on the Via Appia Nuova into downtown Rome.

By Taxi: A taxi from Ciampino to the center of Rome can cost anywhere between EUR50 and EUR60, and the ride takes about 45 minutes. Take only official cabs with the "Taxi" sign on top; unofficial cabs often overcharge disoriented travelers.

By Train: ACOTRAL bus connects the airport with the Anagnina Station of Metro line A, which takes you into the center of the city. Buses depart from in front of the airport terminal around 25 times a day between 6:50 AM and 11:40 PM. The fare is EUR1 and your ticket is also good for the Metro. Have change handy for the ticket machine, which is not always working. There is also a shop inside the terminal that can sell you a ticket. If both purchasing options fail, board the bus and offer to pay the driver.
